Monday, December 22nd    

  • The Museum’s second annual Festival of Trees continues with 20 gorgeous and uniquely themed trees displayed for all to enjoy. A running model train (set up by the North Island Railroaders), an exhibit of nostalgic toys and Ron Francis’ one-of-a-kind collection of hand-crafted wooden toys will complete the festive scene! 250-287-3103 (Closed December 25th & 26th) 
  • Adult & Me & A Christmas Tree: Jump in the pool at Strathcona Gardens at 1pm and then create a holiday craft! $10/child (adult participant Free); Call 250-287-9234 for details.

Tuesday, December 23rd

  • Adult & Me & A Christmas Tree: Strap on your skates to whip around the rink at Strathcona Gardens and then make a festive craft! $10/child (adult participant Free); from 1-3:30pm, call 250-287-9234 for details.

Wednesday, December 24th

  • 2014 Artisans’ Market. For 6 weeks each year, the CR Art Gallery is transformed into a beautiful market featuring a wide variety of creative work from coastal and regional artists. You’ll find locally-crafted items of pottery, woodwork and knitwear to jewelry, glass and soap – not to mention spices, candles and decorations! Stop in this holiday season: Monday to Saturday, 10am- 5pm from November 13th to December 24th. 250-287-2261

  • Come in the spirit of Christmas to celebrate the birth of Christ with music and a short message at the Campbell River Baptist Church, 6:30pm; 250-287-8831.
Thursday, December 25th        MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  • 14th Annual Christmas Dinner with Friends at the Community Centre. Don’t be alone this Christmas – come down between 1-3pm for a free home-cooked meal. Call Ike at 250-926-0321 for transportation. Entertainment and activities provided for the kids! Call Brenda at 250-287-9483 to volunteer. 
  • Ski Free Christmas at Mount Washington – dress like an elf or Elvis (fully dressed in costume) to receive a free alpine lift ticket, 9am-9:30pm. 
  • Christmas Dinner on the Mountain: Turkey at Ted’s Bar & Grill between 4pm-7pm. Call 250-338-1386 to reserve ($28/$16); view menu online (www.mountwashington.ca) 
  • Night Skiing begins at Mount Washington. Available from 3:30-9pm, every Thursday-Sunday until April 18th.
Friday, December 26th

  • Last chance to see the Garden Lights & Santa’s Barn at Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens. Every night, from 5-9pm, between December 1st and 26th. Visit www.woodlandgardens.ca for more information on which weekends to see Santa or take a ‘Carol walk’. 
  • Pepsi Torchlight & Fireworks at Mount Washington – a Free, family Fireworks display from 7-7:30pm, viewable from the Alpine Lodge. 
  • SPCA Fundraiser at Jonny’s Bar & Lounge in Willow Point with The Woody James band from Vancouver. Call 250-926-0606 for reservations.
Saturday, December 27th

  • The Museum at Campbell River is offering another fun, family experience for the holidays – the fabulous student puppeteers are returning for a special Christmas encore! Showing at 1pm and 3pm, the students will retell the story of ‘The Wreck of the Northwestern’ (In which no one drowns and everyone has a Merry Christmas!). $2 admission; 250-287-3103. 
  • Time for the traditional Campbell River Christmas Bird Count, officially from 8:30am-4:30pm, but you can be “on-the-alert” all week between the 24th and 30th. Pre-assigned teams will travel through 12 designated areas to identify and record as many bird species and numbers as possible. Both experts and novices welcome – must have your own binoculars. Participants will receive instructions from team leaders shortly before the count date re: meeting place, lunch and travel arrangements. Email lu.rich52@gmail.com or call 250-202-3266. 
  • Slopstacle fun for all ages - Check out the slippery, sloppy obstacle course at Strathcona Gardens: time trials, prizes for best wipe out and more! Come prepared to get covered in pudding, Jello, eggs and other goo. 2-4pm with Regular Admission. 250-287-9234

  • Family New Year’s Eve party at Strathcona Gardens: activities for all ages between 5pm-9pm. Pond hockey, public skating, ice games, swimming and water games, kid’s crafts and family games, clowns and entertainment throughout the evening! FREE – 250-287-9234. 
  • Live Music, Dinner Specials, Door Prizes and No Cover Charge! Take your New Year’s Party down to the Royal Coachman Pub; call 250-286-0231 for reservations.

Thursday, January 1st          HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • Annual Polar Bear Swim at Saratoga Beach. Start the Year with a Splash…a really cold Splash. 
  • Join the Centre for Spiritual Living at Willow Point Hall for New Year’s Day Dinner: buffet, beach fire, drumming, chanting and dancing the night away. $25 – 250-850-3064.

Saturday, January 3rd

  • Spend the evening floating in the leisure pool watching a family movie. Admission ($6/$15) includes 2 slices of pizza, a drink and an ice-cream cone. 6-8pm at Strathcona Gardens.
  • CR's fire fighters are holding their by-donation tree-chipping fundraiser at the Sportsplex - rain or shine! 10am-4pm, all proceeds go to support the Burn Fund (minimum donation $5). 

Sunday, January 4th

  • The Centre for Spiritual Living is returning to Willow Point Hall for their annual Burning Bowl Celebration. Releasing the old and embracing the new. 10:30am, by donation. 250-850-3064.
