To all past festival participants & fans – plans for the 10th annual Haig-Brown Festival are underway! Once again, the event is sponsored by the Museum at Campbell River, with support from the City of Campbell River and Greenways Land Trust. The date is Sunday September 25th, from Noon to 4:00pm at the Haig-Brown House, 2250 Campbell River Road. There will be environmental & literary displays, fishing demonstrations, children’s activities and crafts, tours, readings, a book sale, live music and tasty food.

September 12 - 18 in Campbell River

If you haven't been to the Museum at Campbell River for a while - now is the time! The world-class digital art exhibit is on display until September 22.
The last Salmon Farm Tour with BC Salmon Farmers Association is this week - September 15th, Thursday at 9am. The cost is $50 and includes lunch.  Advance booking is required - to save a spot phone 250-286-1636 x 224.  This is also the last week to catch 'Mesa' and the 'Salmon Cycles Exhibit' at the Campbell River Art Gallery - hours for the gallery are Tuesday to Saturday 12-5p.
Thursday September 15th the Tidemark Theatre presents the Powder Blues Band - tickets are on sale at 250-287-7465 for $44.50.
Looking for some live entertainment - check out the Tyee Pub at Painters Lodge Friday at 8pm - this week features Marc Crissinger.  At Serious Coffee it's open mike night as well.

This weekend in the RiverCity is hopping!!  September 17 BC Hydro is hosting a community event at the John Hart Generating Station featuring bucket truck rides, kid's activities, bouncy castle, hot dogs and a chance to meet BC Hydro staff.  Due to limited parking there will be free public transport from the community centre starting at 10:30am.  Later that day you can choose between the 5th Annual Duck Dance featuring 'Mr. Completely' at the Sportsplex or Race Night at Saratoga Speedway which is the last regular race night of the season with FIREWORKS!

September 18th (Sunday) the Terry Fox Run starts at the Spirit Square.  Registration is at 9am, warm-up is at 9:55am and the race starts at 10am goes to Dick Murphy Park and back to Spirit Square.  Daybreak Rotary's Annual Duck Race fundraising event takes place Sunday from the Comox Logging bridge to the finish line at the Myrt Thompson Trail on Maple Street.  Duck race is 3pm and festivities start around 1pm!

September 6 - 11

Greetings to another week of fun and sun in Campbell River!  The sun keeps shining and that's OK with us; there's no better place to be than here in September - one my personal favourite months of the year.  It's a little dry out there so be careful out there - we know one day the rains will come but until they do it crispy in the forests.

Our week kicks off with 'Perry Johnson" at Spirit Square Tuesday from 11:30am to 1pm.  Bring your lunch, sunscreen and sunglasses - it's looking to be a beautiful day.

Wednesday at Serious Coffee attend Jam Night at 6:30pm, and on Saturday bring the whole family down for a Seriousl-ly Fun Tour de Rock Fundraiser from 11-3pm.

Campbell River Garden Club is having their first get together of season Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Baptist Church - contact dedmunck@yahoo.com or call 250-923-0578 for more info.

Thursday Salmon Farm Tours take off from Discovery Launch Water Taxi at 9am.  The cost for this educational tour is about 4 ½ hours long for $50 and includes lunch.  Contact 250-286-1636 x 224 for reservations and more info.  These tours are scheduled to depart until September 16th.

If you haven't checked out the Museum at Campbell River yet - then make some time for this world class digital art exhibit.  The Museum is open everyday from 10-5pm until September 30th so there's lots of time to drop in!

This weekend in Campbell River is a busy one.  Saturday, Women 4 Women are hosting a 5K and 10K Trail Mix Challenge at Carihi from 9-1p.  Registration is $35 and kids are free.  At the Spirit Square from 11-3pm there will be a Volunteer Fair.  Come down and learn about all the places to volunteer in our community and listen to the sounds of 'Rick Benn.'  Also at Strathcona Gardens "Just Try It" Free skating lessons Saturday from 1:30p to 4:15pm and Sunday 10:45 to 4:45pm.  Register by calling 250-287-9234.
