Monday, October 28th

  • Coho Books presents an evening with author Grant Lawrence (“The Lonely End of the Rink”); slide show, reading and book signing, 7pm at the Java Shack. Free admission, visit www.grantlawrence.com to find out more.  
  • Dr. Katharina Fabricius from the Australian Institute for Marine Sciences will give a key-note address on the subject of ocean acidification and other environmental challenges on coral reefs world-wide at the Maritime Heritage Centre (Thulin Room) from 7pm-8:30pm.   • Downtown Pumpkin Walk! Everyone is invited to follow the pumpkins in store fronts along Shoppers Row, Pier Street & the Tyee Plaza (October 29th to 31st)

  • Sing for Fun is a weekly event (Friday or Wednesday) from 10am-11am in the Community Centre Lounge. $2 drop-in for all ages, stages, and abilities this program is originally designed as music therapy. Call 250-286-1161 or email judy.ridgeway@campbellriver.ca with any questions.

  • Fall Fun Fair at the Campbell River Christian School gym (250 South Dogwood) 4:30pm-7:30pm; cakewalk, games, prizes and more! Fun for all ages – everyone welcome. Tickets are available at the door. 
  •  John McDermott, 7:30pm at the Tidemark Theatre for his 20th Anniversary Tour “Looking Back”.


Saturday, November 2nd

  • Super Saturday: Tie-dye Paintings – Create a groovy effect using colored dyes and salt on watercolour paper. A kaleidoscope of colours will swish and swirl on your painting. Watch the effect the salt has on the dyes, and realize our own masterpiece of colour. 1-3pm at the Art Gallery. www.crartgallery.ca 
  •       Grandmothers to Grandmothers together with Rocks Bejewelled invite you to a fundraiser for the Stephen Lewis Foundation at Sybil Andrews Cottage from 10am to 4pm where Barbara and Darlene will be selling their beautiful silver-wrapped, polished stone jewellery and donating %20 of the sales. http://www.rocksbejewelled.com
  • A Benefit concert featuring the Island Voices Chamber Choir, Rafaelle Mattheson (pianist), Amy Lelliott (vocalist), Helga Hagan’s “La Isla” ensemble (guitar), Blaine Waldbauer and Towa Stewart (piano) will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church (145 Simms Road) at 2pm, admission by donation and all proceeds go toward purchasing urgently needed items for the church’s Sunday School.

  • Continuing their Fall Lecture series, the Museum presents author Richard Mackie speaking on the Great Fire of 1938. Cost is $6.  
  • Darren Lee: A Tribute to the King is a must see performance for Elvis fans and everyone! The 1st Canadian to WIN the World Elvis Competition and the Longest Running Elvis Tribute Artist in Las Vegas History (11 Record Breaking Years!) is at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River for One Night Only! OCTOBER 21st – 27th   

Monday, October 21st 
  •  Last chance to register for Zombie Escape 3/5km obstacle course at Willow Point Park this Sunday from 1pm-5pm. Contact the City of Campbell River at 250-923-7911 for more information on how to participate and register as either a runner or a zombie.

Tuesday, October 22nd
  • ‘Open Studio’ at the Art Gallery features live model figure drawing. Every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 9pm between October 8th and November 12th. The drop-in fee to participate is $12.50, artists can pre-register for all six sessions for only $55! Call 250-287-2261 for more info. 
  •  Campbell River Festival of Film continues with ‘Amour’: George and Anne are in their eighties: cultivated, retired music teachers. One day Anne has an attack and the couple’s bond of love is severely tested. Rated PG-13, tickets are $14 at the door or buy them online at www.tidemarktheatre.com 
  • Harlem Crowns basketball team returns to take on local Carihi alumni for this fun-filled family event to raise support for the Carihi basketball program.   • The Fitzgerald Family Fiddlers are coming to the Big Yellow Merville Hall for a unique, uplifting, foot-stomping musical goodtime! Tickets are available at The Music Plant in Campbell River, $10/adults, $5/youth – doors open at 6:30pm. 
  • North Island Hospitals Project invites you to attend an information session to take place at Thunderbird Hall, 1420 Weiwaikum Road, from 7pm-9pm. The meeting will start with a presentation followed by a Q&A session; for more information visit www.viha.ca 
  • Beginner Watercolour with Caren Heine at the Art Gallery will provide all the answers you need to move forward with watercolours.  The cost is $118 for non-members, contact 250-287-2261 or programs@crartgallery.ca to register.   • Tidemark Lounge presents Anela and Helen Austin - 7pm, $10 at the door.

Friday, October 25h
  • The 24th Street Wailers is a band that breaks all the rules. This Rockabilly/blues band will be at the Tidemark Theatre tonight at 7:30pm! Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the box office or online at www.tidemarktheatre.com 
  •  Grandmothers to Grandmothers Present: “From Under the Bushy Trees”, A Film. A Fundraiser. A Turning of the Tide. The movie is about the challenges and rewards of building a school in poverty-stricken Chad. Meet the director and see a marketplace with Kazuri beads, refreshments and more. At Timberline/NIC Theatre, entrance is by donation and all proceeds go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Doors open at 7pm and the movie begins at 7:45pm. 
  •  YPCR’s Second Annual Gala at the Maritime Heritage Centre is expected to sell out so grab your tickets online at www.ypcampbellriver.com while you can! It is a wonderful opportunity to dress up, celebrate the YPCR, and show your support for local initiatives – this year the Discovery Passages Aquarium will benefit from the fundraising efforts of the gala.   • The 7th Annual Fall Home Expo at the Sportsplex is a free event and a great place to get inspired by the latest ideas in home improvement and decorating. Friday from 4-9pm (See Saturday and Sunday too!). 
  • Halloween fun swim at Strathcona Gardens 6:30 to 8pm. A night of frightful family fun with games, prizes & the floating skeleton game; costumes are optional, but remember your bathing suit! Fee includes entry to our Famous Haunted House – call 250-287-9234 for more info!

Saturday, October 26th
  • Coastal Black’s Pumpkin Fest is on, Saturdays & Sundays until October 27th (Including Thanksgiving Monday!); FREE admission: pumpkin ring toss, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin photo booth and a hay bale maze! 10am to 4pm – come pick your pumpkin! 2186 Endall Road, Black Creek. cbpumpkinfest@gmail.com 
  • Slopstacle Fun at Strathcona Gardens from 2pm-4pm: slippery, sloppy obstacle course, time trails, and prizes. Come prepared to be covered in pudding, jello, eggs and other goo. Call 250-287-9234 for more information. 
  • Vampire & Werewolf Themed party at Strathcona Gardens for ages 6-12 from 6pm-9pm. Skate, dance, sing karaoke and lip sync to your favorite themed tracks including songs from Teen Wolf, Vampire Diaries and Twilight. PLUS fun TV/movie trivia. $10 includes skate rentals and pizza.   • Join ‘Inclusion’ at the Community Centre Gym for a musical fundraiser for Operation Eyesight Universal. 7-9pm with special guest Charla Johnson; admission is by donation and there will be refreshments available. 
  • Sweet Tease Burlesque’s Annual Halloween Bash with special guests ‘Trouble Galore’; Ages 19+, $20 at the door. 
  • Rotary Pumpkin Sale (to end Polio!) from 10am-4pm at Real Canadian Superstore. Rotary will be selling whole pumpkins AND cleaned out, ready-to-carve pumpkins as well as hot dogs, drinks and snacks. 
  • The Art of the Paddle auction at Maritime Heritage Centre will be led by world-renowned carver Bill Henderson; a galaxy of artists, both aboriginal and non-aboriginal, are lending their skills to this major fundraiser for the CR Hospice Society and BraveHearts Dragon Boat team. Tickets are $20 each and can be obtained at the Hospice office, at the Royal Bank, or by calling 250-286-1121. 
  • The Museum at Campbell River kicks off its Fall Lecture Series with author Joan Harper and her book, ‘He Moved a Mountain: The Life of Frank Calder and The Nisga’s Land Claims Accord’ from 1pm-2:30pm. $6 to attend; call 287-3103 for more information. 
  • 7th Annual Fall Home Expo continues: Saturday 9:30am-5:30pm 
  • Night of the Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Tour, 7:30pm at the Tidemark Theatre. Damonde Tschritter, Sam Easton, and Toby Hargrave come together for a night of laughs with Canada’s Best Headliners! 
  • Halloween Howl & Haunted Basement at Black Creek Community Centre from 5pm-8pm. Tour the haunted basement, make crafts, eat scary snacks – Prize for best costume awarded at 7pm. Pre-register by October 23rd at $12/family, or $15 at the door. 
  • Ladies Auxiliary Pie & Tea sale at the CR Legion Hall from 11:30am-2pm

Sunday, October 27th
  • Zombie Escape 5k at Willow Point Park. Register at the Sportsplex or Community Centre (zombieescape5k.wordpress.com). If you were too late to register, don’t let the zombies scare you away from being a spectator! 
  • ‘Click and Treat’ mini photo-shoots with Outer Island Photography – $65 for a session with treats for the little ones and a disc with 10 photos for the grownups. Please email outer_island_photography@yahoo.ca for additional info. 
  • 7th Annual Fall Home Expo continues: Sunday 10am-4pm
