Wednesday, March 5th    

  • Rock.It Boy Entertainment and The Eagle 97.3 proudly present Bonfire: A Tribute to the Music of AC/DC at the Tidemark Theatre, 7:30pm. With hard-rocking, spot-on sound they are selling out shows and rocking audiences out of their seats everywhere they go. Their authentic look, sound, vocals and stage presence landed then a nomination for Best Tribute Band at the L.A. Music Awards in 2012.   •  40 Days for Life prayer vigil begins with over 250 cities from coast to coast; the Campbell River campaign is a peaceful, highly-focused, non-denominational initiative held outside the General Hospital at 375 2nd Avenue that centers around 40 days of fasting and praying for an end to abortion.   • The CR Garden Club’s March guest speaker is Jamey Lauinger of Valley Succulents – learn what it takes to grow exotic succulents and hardy cacti in Campbell River. You’ll find us in the Band Room (North Entrance from the parking lot) of the Baptist Church – doors open at 6:30pm, meeting from 7-8:30pm. $2 general admission – newcomers always welcome! 
  • Tune in to the Knowledge Network for an episode entitled ‘Vancouver Island’s Eastern Shoreline’ and catch long-time Museum at Campbell River volunteer, Danny Brown, sharing the story of Ripple Rock. Also airing on March 6th and 9th.


Friday, March 7th    

  • A live show from multi award-winning guitarist Jesse Cook, including flamenco rumba, jazz, many forms of world music and material from his new album. This is a licensed Tidemark event – you must be 19+ to attend.  
  • Art, photography and outdoor enthusiasts won’t want to miss a fascinating evening with visiting artists Andreas Rutkauskas, Glenn Clark and Peter Corbett at the art Gallery, 7:30pm. All members of the public are invited to meet these three artists and enjoy a treat and a Starbucks coffee, as well as taking in Rutkauskas’ illustrated talk. 


 Saturday, March 8th

  • Lego Day at the Museum from 1-2:30pm. Taking inspiration from the newly released Lego Movie the theme is Movies! What wonderful, fantastic and interesting things can you build based on something you saw in a movie? $5 (parents are free), call 250-287-3103 to register. 
  • Super Saturday drop-in art program at the Art Gallery. Create collaged landscapes from your own nature photographs with “Virtually There” exhibiting artist Andreas Rutkauskas visiting from Montreal. All ages welcome – just bring your imagination along with your own nature/landscape photographs. All other materials are provided; call 250-287-2261 for more information.   
  • Weekend workshop on painting outdoors with exhibiting artists Glenn Clark and Peter Corbett. The workshop will take place both in and out of doors and provide you with all the information necessary for painting outside, focusing on equipment, supplies and the key elements of composition needed to create effective and interesting work.  Call 250-287-2261 for more information or to register. The workshop takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3pm.   
  • Legendary blues man Jim Byrnes is performing a dinner show in Herons at Heriot Bay Inn; seating at 6pm and the show at 7pm. Reservations are highly recommended – seats are $55 per person and include a two-course dinner! 
  • Brown Banana Workshop series presents “Owl Tote Bag” – learn to design and create an Owl Tote Bag from up-cycled materials. From 6-8pm at the Saratoga Gift Shop (Beside Discovery Foods); register in store or call 250-923-2637. $25, all necessary materials are provided to create a unique and one-of-kind tote bag – tea and snacks too!


Sunday, March 9th

  • “En Plein Air” Workshop, part II; 250-287-2261. 
  • Tara School of Irish Dance present their annual St. Patrick’s Tea with seatings at 1pm and 3pm at the Maritime Heritage Centre. Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea with freshly baked scones, fresh cream and jam and other goodies while the high-stepping dancers warm your heart with their precision, skill and joy of dancing. Tickets are $12.50, available from “Brew Unto Others” at 151 Dogwood Street – 250-205-0218. 
  • Calvin Dyck, Geoff Leader and Carmen Hollett come together to perform the “Waldhorn”, Brahms Horn Trio, for violin, French horn and piano. This moving piece, written after the death of his mother, and other works by various composers will be performed at the Black Creek United Mennonite Church (2777 Enns Road) at 2:30pm. $20 for adults, $15 for students.
