July 7th – 13th         
 



Monday, July 7th

  • Tachov Children’s Choir from the Czech Republic visiting from the Powell River International Choral Kathaumixw. 8pm at the United Church - $10, tickets available from the Visitor Centre. 
  • Guided Paddle Boarding on McIvor Lake – come learn on this 2.5 hour tour with all equipment supplied. 6pm, $50 – contactderekcouture58@gmail.com or phone 250-204-1115.

Tuesday, July 8th         

  • Lunch in the Square with Jeff Plankenhorn from Austin Texas; 11:30am-1:15pm 
  • Puppet Theatre at the Museum! Shows at 10:30am and 1:30pm followed by a craft. 
  • Live Jazz at April Point starting at 6:30pm featuring local musicians.

Wednesday, July 9th

  • Croquet & Tea at Haig-Brown House – register with the Museum by calling 250-287-3103. 
  • Sunset Cinema returns to Willow Point Park for a movie under the stars. The Lego Movie will be shown on a massive, three-storey-high inflatable screen. Showtime is as soon as it’s dark, so moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and claim a spot early. The movie is free to attend, but you may want to splurge at the concession stand. 
  • Estuary Kayaking Tour at 6pm – contact derekcouture58@gmail.com or 250-204-1115. No experience necessary, all equipment provided for this 2.5-3 hour tour.

Thursday, July 10th

  • The River Concert Series continues in Spirit Square with the Jilli Martini Band; 7-9pm 
  • Puppet Theatre at the Museum! Shows at 10:30am and 1:30pm followed by a craft. 
  • Road Hockey at the Black Creek community centre, 6-7pm. Sticks provided or bring your own – all ages welcome! Free event, every Thursday in July; 250-337-5190.

Friday, July 11th   

  • Active History Afternoon at the Museum offered from 1-4pm (Regular Admission). 
  • Tapped! Beer Festival at Mount Washington 6-9pm in the courtyard; a variety of brews for sampling, a beer seminar and live music. Tickets are $25, purchase online and save 10% www.mountwashington.ca 
  • Intertidal Walk with Biologist Sandra Milligan at the Willow Point Reef – register at 287-3103. 
  • 2014 Van. Island Music Fest @ Comox Valley Fairgrounds, 12pm. www.islandmusicfest.com

Saturday, July 12th

Sunday, July 13th

  • Pier Street Famers Market & Arts Fair: Sundays 10am-2:30pm down between the Maritime Heritage Centre and the Fishing Pier. Fresh breakfast, lunch, coffees, pastries, breads, arts and crafts, live entertainment and more!!   
  • Level 2 Hike: 7 Lakes Loop with Julian Brooks. 7 hour hike departing at 9am from the Strathcona Wilderness Institute. Pre-register with coordinator@strathconapark.org (ltd. to 16 participants). 
  • Autocross – come test your driving skills at Saratoga Speedway, 3pm; bring your street car – everyone welcome! www.saratogaracing.ca
