  • Night Skiing at Mt Washington. Available from 3:30-9pm, every Thursday-Sunday until April 18th. 
  • Open House: The Future of Ostler Park. The City is seeking public input through an open house and survey at the Sportsplex, 6:30-8pm; 250-286-5797.

Friday, January 23rd

  • New temporary exhibit opens at the Museum entitled Rust in Peace: Island Junkyards of the 1970s, a pictographic retrospective curated by Rick James; 250-287-3103.

Saturday, January 24th

  • A Nite with Robbie Burns at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall featuring the Youth Pipe Band and the Highland Dancers! Cocktails at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:30pm. Tickets are $25 available at the Legion Bar (301 – 11th Ave) and include a traditional Haggis & Roast Beef Supper. Everyone Welcome – you do not have to be a member! 250-287-4671. 
  • Tracks ‘n’ Trains! The North Island Model Railroaders Club is bringing back their exhibits to the Museum. Come see the miniature buildings, trains and scenery that never fail to fascinate people of all ages and find out why this hobby is popular all around the world. $7 Admission (under 6 is FREE) or $20 for the whole family. Saturday 12pm-5pm and Sunday 12-4pm. 
  • Jeanette Taylor and Annette Yourke are teaming up once again to present a bi-monthly Writer’s Workshop at the Museum. To register call 287-3103 or visit www.thescribes.ca for more info. 
  • CANCELLED: Due to unforeseen circumstance, this year's Lunar New Year Celebration & Fundraiser Dinner at the Community Centre has been cancelled. 250-830-0171
  • Head to Strathcona Gardens for Slopstacle Fun, 2-4pm; 250-287-9234. 
  • Pizza & Pyjama Dance Party for girls 6-12 from 6-9pm at Strathcona Gardens. Music, dancing, skating, snacking, singing and playing games - $10 admission includes skate rentals and pizza.

Sunday, January 25th

  • Family Literacy Week begins with a Free Swim at Strathcona Gardens from 12:30-4pm. More events at www.literacyforall.ca 
  • Tracks ‘n’ Trains continue at the Museum from 12-4pm; 250-287-3103. 
  • Register online to Ski for MS and enjoy a great day of free skiing or snowboarding on Mount Washington, 9am-4pm. www.msski.ca  Contact Cherie at 250-339-0819 with any questions.   
  • Take a bowl full of thrilling music, mix it with heart-gripping stories, add a pinch of passion and a dash of humour and you have the delicious “Russia: Love It or Leave It” presented at the United Mennonite Church (2277 Enns Road in Black Creek), 1:30pm with virtuosic violinist Calvin Dyck and gifted pianist Betty Suderman. A tasty program featuring the beautiful and energizing music of Russia and the Ukraine. Tickets are $20/$15 available at the door or by calling 250-337-2204.
