Kesu’: The Art and Life of Doug Cranmer ~ Museum
A temporary exhibit curated by the UBC’s Museum of Anthropology that will be on display at the Museum at Campbell River from October 19, 2012 until February 17, 2013. Doug Cranmer was a Kwakwaka’wakw artist (although he referred to himself as a ‘whittler’ and a ‘doodler’) who pushed the boundaries of what many consider to be 'traditional' Northwest Coast art. The exhibit shows a wide range of Cranmer’s artistic works including masks, bentwood boxes, bowls, and prints, and his important “Abstract series” of paintings on mahogany plywood. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday 12-5pm. For more information please call 250.287.3103.

Two Eyes Five Legs, Right Hand Left Hand ~ Exhibition:  January 31 to March 7
Jo Lechay paints in big bold strokes and quick line. Her large images capture expression and movement, fuelled by her long professional career in dance and theatre. Lechay finds the immediacy of children's paintings and the mischief of graffiti especially rich sources of inspiration. She draws and paints best when improvising with her whole body and every undertaking is a visceral investigation of her. The CR Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12-5pm. For more information please call 250.287.2261.
