– Rights and Wrongs: The Resilience of the World’s Indigenous People ~
Exhibit
The Museum
at Campbell River is pleased to host a photographic exhibit in partnership with
North Island College and Vancouver Island University that depicts the work of
documentary photographer and poet Carlos Reyes-Manzo. The exhibit is a
collection of black and white social images taken by Reyes-Manzo that documents
people who are marginalised from society and who have suffered human rights
abuses. As Reyes-Manzo explains about his work: “Photography tells
the stories of people whose voices are not heard.”
The
photographs will be on display from that evening until Sunday, March 31, 2013 in
the Museum’s temporary gallery. They can be viewed during the Museum’s
open hours; Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 5pm. For further information

March 12th - Safe Harbour
Lunch & Learn
A free Safe Harbour Lunch &
Learn is being offered to community members, service providers and current Safe
Harbour locations. The meeting will assess community needs, program
effectiveness, strengths and weaknesses and future actions.
The three main commitments of the program include
offering an immediate safe place, prepared employees and worksites, and fair
treatment for all. Join us to learn how your business can get involved in this
great community-focused program. It’s good for clients, good for employees and
is ultimately good for your business. There are nearly 40 Safe Harbour
locations already in Campbell River and 1000 across British Columbia. A few
include Serious Coffee, Home Hardware, Community Centre, NIEFS and the office
of Claire Trevana, MLA for North Island.

March 13th – Working
the Pond with Positive Networking ~ Chamber Event
The Campbell River Chamber of Commerce wants to help local business
people connect and leapfrog their way to networking success.
This fun and interactive workshop is acknowledged as one of the most
effective programs to learn skills of networking, conversation, social
intelligence, and how to build a network. Not only is the workshop engaging, it
gives participants the tools to be able to build their business by building
relationships. If there’s one networking
events you need to attend this year, this is it! The workshop will be based on
the best-selling book by Author Darcy Rezac: Work the Pond – Use the Power of
Positive Networking to Leap Forward in Work and Life. The book will be
available at the workshop for purchase.
Come to enjoy yourself and understand the real purpose and benefit of
positive networking. Tickets are $35 for Chamber Members and $50 for future

March 13th – Spoon
Flowers Workshop
Fun, fantasy flowers made from plastic cutlery. The flowers can be made
with any color cutlery to match your décor. The spoons make delightful rose
type flowers. Use the plastic forks to make chrysanthemums and the knives to
make sunflowers. For more information or to register please call the Community

March 14th – The
Nylons with guests Campbell River Singers
Taking the stage with just their voices, their joy and their ability to
entertain, this acappella quartet is one of Canada’s top international success
stories. They are now celebrating their JUNO nomination for Best Jazz Vocal
Album (2011) for their 15th release Skin Tight. Tickets on sale now at

Annual Member’s Exhibition Opening ~ CR Art Gallery
Presented by the CR Art Gallery and Cr Arts council. Features work of up
to 80 regional artists. The opening reception will see awards presented by
local dignitaries and comments from the panel of jurors. The Member’s Exhibition
is sponsored by Cr Lawyers Shook, Wickham, Bishop and Field. For more

March 15th to
16th – 11th Annual Words on the Water Festival
At this festival contemporary writers and readers meet in a beautiful
west coast setting. Friday evening offers a stimulating mediated panel
discussion and a brief glimpse a all of our writers. On Saturday you can attend
individual annotated readings with each guest author. Sessions are 45 minutes
and writers often allow time for questions. The Literary Cabaret on Saturday
provides all the components necessary for an entertaining and stimulating
evening: readings, music, and good food. Socializing with the writers and other
like-minded readers is a key rewarding element of the festival. All weekend
books by our featured writers will be on display and available for purchase.
The venue, Campbell Rivers Maritime Heritage Centre, provides a perfect

March 15th – One
Man Lord of the Rings
One Man to do it all. One man to rule them all! The extremely talented
Canadian actor Charles Ross delighted Campbell River in February with his One
Man Star Wars Trilogy. Now he returns, as he promised, with One Man Lord of the
Rings. At 7:30pm at the Tidemark Theatre. Tickets on sale now at the Tidemark

What happens when you make one shape in many different colours and
