July 11th to July 17th

Welcome to a new week and new opportunities!

    This week Mt. Washshington will be holding thier annual Learn to Ride Week, a great opportunity to get outdoors with the family or friends and learn something new. This event will go until July 16th

    Tonight there are couple events going on both in Campbell River and on Quadra Island.
Serious Coffee will be hosting thier weekly Open Stage night tonight at their Willow Point location from 6-9. For those looking to test out their voices, or wanting to display their talent this is your chance! And, of course, this event is also open to any wanting to come by and watch the performances.
    At Heriot Bay Inn, tonight will be your one chance through the month of July to join in on Ryan's Rock'n'Roll Bingo, so make sure to get there and not miss the opportunity!

    Get ready for another great Lunch in the Square event this week! This Tuesday we will be joined by performer Nigel Nikoliasen from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Grab a lunch from any of the great local resteraunts downtown and relax listening to some great, free music.

    Looking for something to cater to the kids? The Campbell River Museum will be holding thier Puppet Show tomorrow at two seperate times: 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. The cost is $2 per person and includes an after show craft time for the kids.

    The weekly Jam Night at Serious Coffee will take place on Wednesday from 6:30-9:30 pm, and is a great opportunity to listen to some talented local musicians and share some music with others.
    On Wednesday night the Centennial Pool will be hosting a Teen Pool Party for ages 11 to 15 years. The event will include challenges, competitions, food, and of course fun. It will go from 7:45 - 9pm and will cost the regular admission for the pool.

    If you missed the chance to go to the Museum's Puppet Show on Tuesday, here's another opportunity! The show and after show crafts will also be taking place on Thursday at 10:30am and 1:30pm.
    This weeks Concert in the Square will begin on Thursday at 7 to 9pm at the town's Spirit Square, and will feature the Neil Young tribute band, Live Rust!

    Also at 7pm on Thursday, Shaw will be hosting a Studio Camera Workshop. Learn the basics of studio camera operation and other positions involved in TV production. To book a spot, you can either call 250-898-2563 or send an email to chas.leckie@sjrb.ca.
    The First Annual Discovery Islands Festival of Chamber Music will take place on Thursday at the Heriot Bay Inn and Quadra Island Community Centre. It will feature Baroque, Tango, short favorites of the repertoire, and intimate cello. Baroque in the Bay will take place in the Bayview room at 6:30 pm, and for $29 includes tapas and desserts. This event will take place through to the 17th.

    The Miracle Beach Farmer's Market will also be on Thursday at the Miracle Beach Landing, 8667 Old Island Hwy in Black Creek. It will go from 4pm to 7pm.

    The Tournament of Angels will take place this Saturday at the Storey Creek Golf Course beginning at 11 am. The $125 entry fee includes golf, a shared power cart, a prime rib and salmon dinner, a $30 tax receipt, great prizes, 18 hole-in-one chances, and auction items. All proceeds from this event will help those in Campbell River struggling with hunger, homelessness, addiction and isolation.     The Spirit Square will be putting on a fantastic 4 hour party on Saturday called We Enjoy Being Green! to celebrate all that we can do to make our community ecological and healthy. There will be live music by David Blinzinger and his GREEN HORNETS, as well as small garden demonstrations, organic foods, water conservancy, sustainability and lots of green exhibitors. There will be things for the kids to do, including prizes and free stuff! The event will start at 11 am and keep on rocking until 3 pm.

    The Campbell River Art Gallery will be putting on another Super Saturday  this weekend, with this week's theme being Wearable Art. This is your chance to make your own fashion statements with fabric, and make a piece of art that you can wear home! Admission is by donation and all materials will be provided. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information you can call the Art Gallery at 250-287-2261.
    Courtenay will be celebrating their 41st Annual Market Days downtown on Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm.

    This week's Community Clean-up will begin at 10am and volunteers will be meeting behind Banner's Resteraunt. The event is hosted by Greenways Land Trush, Tim Horton's and Communities in Bloom. Volunteers are needed to help clean up our downtown area from garbage, and will be provided with free coffee, t-shirts, mugs and water.

    The Museum will be putting on another Historic Marine Tour this Sunday to beautiful Sonora Island. Knowledgeable local residents will guide you along the coast and through nearby islands on a journey through the past and present. The cost is $145 a person and includes lunch at Dent Island.
