Friday, March 14th    

  • Words on the Water Festival 2014 at the Maritime Heritage Centre – tickets available from the Tidemark Theatre (250-287-PINK); Friday night and all day Saturday. If reading is your passion, you’ll be in heaven at a writers’ festival – combine the spoken word, art, music, food and friendship for a rich feast. $20 for individual sessions. Saturday, March 15th
  • Words on the Water Festival 2014 continued. 
  • The 18th Annual Walk Away from Racism is a FREE family event. Doors open at 10:30am at the Community Centre, walk starts at 12pm. Activities include a special speaker, proclamation, kids corner, face painting, temporary tattoos, balloons, snacks and beverages (post walk) as well as musical/dance entertainment. 
  • A musical showcase at the Willows Neighbourhood Pub (521 Rockland Road) hosted by Doug Folkins and Jim Creighton, 7-10pm. 
  • The knights of Columbus are dedicating the proceeds from their annual Patty’s Day Fundraiser to baby Anabelle Girard-Duplain and her family. “St. Pats at St. Pats” is a traditional Irish buffet with Tara School of Irish Dancing and music by the Four Amigos. Doors open at 6pm (St. Patrick’s Hall, 34 South Alder) and dinner is at 6:45. Tickets are $30 per place – contact 250-287-3498. 
  • CR’s favorite Irishman, John Reynolds, is back by popular demand at the Riptide for two performances: matinee 2:30-4:30pm and evening 8pm ‘until whenever’. 250-830-0044. 
  • CR Hospice Society Fundraiser at the Eagles hall re-scheduled from Feb 15th to March 15th! Contact the Eagles Club for tickets at 250-287-4990. Includes a great meal, silent auction and the musical styling’s of Rick Benn, so don’t forget your dancing shoes! 
  • Taylor Swift Themed Pool Party at Strathcona Gardens for ages 7-11; come dance, sing and swim to your favorite TSwift songs – fun dance offs, karaoke, trivia and lip sync competitions. Two hours of fun includes snacks and pizza. $10, 6-8pm; call 250-287-9234 for details. 
  • Beatle’s Tribute Band “Fab Fourever” at the Tidemark Theatre to celebrate their 50th Anniversary since the Beatles historic Vancouver performance in 1964. A musical production performing all of the memorable hits live, without any vocal overdubs or pre-recorded music.
