Monday, December 15th

  • 2014 Artisans’ Market. For 6 weeks each year, the CR Art Gallery is transformed into a beautiful market featuring a wide variety of creative work from coastal and regional artists. You’ll find locally-crafted items of pottery, woodwork and knitwear to jewelry, glass and soap – not to mention spices, candles and decorations! Stop in this holiday season: Monday to Saturday, 10am- 5pm from November 13th to December 24th. 250-287-2261 
  • The Museum’s second annual Festival of Trees continues with 20 gorgeous and uniquely themed trees displayed for all to enjoy. A running model train (set up by the North Island Railroaders), an exhibit of nostalgic toys and Ron Francis’ one-of-a-kind collection of hand-crafted wooden toys will complete the festive scene! 250-287-3103 
  • Garden Lights & Santa’s Barn at Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens. Every night, from 5-9pm, between December 1st and 26th. Visit www.woodlandgardens.ca for more information on which weekends to see Santa or take a ‘Carol walk’ with Cantiamo Chamber Ensemble.

Tuesday, December 16th

Thursday, December 18th

  • Internationally known pianist Frank Mills shines his musical light once again as he returns to the Tidemark stage with “An Intimate Evening with Frank Mills” at 7pm. Tickets are $54 available at the 1220 Shoppers Row; 250-287-PINK.

Friday, December 19th

  • A Christmas tradition, you are invited to a dramatic reading of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol presented at Rivercity Stage (1080 Hemlock St) at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, December 19th & 20th. All proceeds will benefit the Food Bank. Admission by donation, cash or non-perishable foods. Tickets required to ensure a seat available – pick up yours, free of charge, at Impressions Gallery, CR Laundromat or Comfort Zone Foods. 
  • Cosmic Rock n’ Glow Swim (11-17) at Strathcona Gardens from 8-9:30pm. Evening of games, challenges and fun – admission ($5) includes glow item, snacks & drinks! 250-287-9234 
  • Coastal Black Christmas – visit www.coastalblack.ca to learn about all the festivities happening at 2186 Endall Road this month, including photos with Santa, live reindeer, a nativity scene, holiday games, Mrs. Clause’s Kitchen and other special features!

Saturday, December 20th

  • Award-winning songwriter and roots/country artist, Sean Hogan is returning for his 11th Annual Canadian Country Christmas tour at the Willow Point Hall. Joined by local artists Sue Medley, Rodrigo Figueroa and Anela Kahiamoe. A beautiful celebration of Christmas, the net proceeds will be donated to Campbell River Hospice and the Tara School of Irish Dancing, who will also be performing! Tickets ($25/$15) available from Fogg Dukkers, Samson’s Janitorial Supplies and Serious Coffee. 
  • Xmas Ice-Colouring Contest at Strathcona Gardens from 1:30-4pm with Regular Admission. Paint your favourite Christmas scene or character on the leisure ice and the top 3 drawings in each age category will receive cool prizes! (Candy canes for ALL!) Tempera paints and coloured felts will be provided. Call 250-287-9234 for more information. 
  • The Centre for Spiritual Living is holding its 12th Annual Celebration of Light on Winter Solstice – Noelle Maffin will be providing her beautiful music followed by a gratitude circle and potluck. Everyone is welcome to bring a dish and join in at the Maritime Heritage Centre. Doors open at 6:30pm and donations are most welcome. www.cslcampbellriver.org
  • Mount Washington is doing a limited opening with the Tube Park, Easy Acres beginner area (that's all five magic carpets), and 10km of nordic and snowshoe trails open for many of you to play on! www.mountwashington.ca  

Sunday, December 21st

  • Pier Street Christmas Craft Fair at the Maritime Heritage Centre returns for three Sundays in December, 10am-3:30pm, with over 60 different craft and food vendors! $1 admission (kids are FREE) www.pierstreet.com   
  • Community Carol Sing, 10:30am at the Baptist Church (260 South Dogwood). All are invited to join us in singing traditional Christmas carols as well as enjoying a hot chocolate and Christmas baking. 250-287-8831 – this is a free event.
