April 17th – 23rd
Friday, April 17th

  • “DECK” or “How I Instigated Then Overcame An Existential Crisis Through Home Improvement” is a one-man comedy show written and performed by Lucas Myers. Deck examines the fine line between perfectionism and obsession. 7:30pm at the Quadra Island Community Centre; 250-285-3243.

Saturday, April 18th

  • Island Voices Chamber Choir presents “Piety & Variety”, 7pm at the Maritime Heritage Centre. Tickets available at the Campbell River Visitor Centre ($18 – under 18 is free); reception to follow. 250-285-3560 www.islandvoiceschamberchoir.bc.ca 
  • Spring Common Mall Market: Family fun event with many local vendors, bounce-a-rama, face-painting and food, 10am-4pm; 250-287-2557. 
  • “The Hay Days of North Campbell River”, 2:30pm at the Museum: memories of the people who grew up in the community when it was in a state of great flux. 250-287-3103 
  • Taylor Swift themed Pool Party at Strathcona Gardens from 6-8pm for ages 7-11. Come dance, sing and swim to your favourite Swift tunes. There will be fun dance offs, karaoke, Taylor trivia and lip sync competitions. Two hours of fun and pizza/snacks! $10 at the door; 250-287-9234. 
  • Old Time Gospel Singing at the Discovery Community Church, 7pm (250 – 10th Avenue).

Sunday, April 19th                       

  • The community is invited to the Sybil Andrews Cottage from 2-4pm in celebration of Sybil Andrews Day! Come down to the cottage at 2131 South Island Highway in Willow Point for tea, coffee and cake.

Thursday, April 23rd  

  • Earth Week Film Festival: “Just Eat It. A food waste story”, 7pm at the Tidemark Theatre. Filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of food waste from farm, through retails, all the way to the back of their own fridge. After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping and survive only on discarded food. What they find is truly shocking! Presented by the City of Campbell River and the Youth Action Committee. 250-287-7465
