Monday, November 10th

Tuesday, November 11th      Remembrance Day

  • Parade & Gathering begins at 10:30am with a march down Shoppers Row to the Cenotaph at Spirit Square for a time of silence and the laying of wreaths, lest we forget.     
  • Free Admission to view ‘Our Cenotaph’ exhibit at the Campbell River Museum, 12-5pm. 
  • Open Studio: Life Drawing. Bring along your drawing/painting materials and the gallery will provide the art model! Tuesday from 6:30-9pm until November 11th. Drop in for $12.50 (GST included). Call 250-287-2261 for more information.

Wednesday, November 12th

  • CR Women’s Centre presents “Waiting for the Parade”, a play set in WWII Canada about those left on the home front. All proceeds go to programs at the Women’s Centre. Show runs November 12th to 16th at the Rivercity Stage (1080 Hemlock Street). Tickets are $20, available at Impressions Custom Framing, CR Laundromat and the Women’s Centre (250-287-3044). 
  • Victoria author Caren Powell will be presenting her novel, The Dark Side of the Rainbow, at a book signing, 3-4pm at Coho Books. 

Thursday, November 13th

  • 2014 Artisans’ Market. For 6 weeks each year, the CR Art Gallery is transformed into a beautiful market featuring a wide variety of creative work from coastal and regional artists. You’ll find locally-crafted items of pottery, woodwork and knitwear to jewelry, glass and soap – not to mention spices, candles and decorations! Stop in this holiday season: Monday to Saturday, 10am- 5pm from November 13th to December 24th. 250-287-2261

Friday, November 14th   

  • The Third Course Wine Festival at North Island College invites you to celebrate the decadence and glamour of the Roaring Twenties with this year’s ‘Great Gatsby’ theme. Beginning at 7pm, you’ll enjoy wine-tasting, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, door prizes, wine & cheese seminars, live music and much more! Complimentary driver services (Campbell River area) so that guests can experience the evening and know they’ll get home safely.   • Cape Breton Island-based family group, The Barra MacNeils, are at the Tidemark Theatre! Regarded as one of the greatest live concert acts in the Celtic world, the experience features multiple lead vocalists, beautiful sibling harmonies, top drawer instrumental prowess on a wide variety of acoustic, stringed, percussion and wind instruments blended with dancing, storytelling, Gaelic songs and a journey through an ancient culture. 7:30-9:30pm; 250-287-PINK. 
  • Campbell River’s 15th Annual Christmas Gift Tour: A self-guided tour of crafters, artisans and home-based businesses. Over 100 vendors at 25 locations! Saturday, November 15th

  • Come meet some of our local and island artists as they discuss, exhibit and demonstrate their creations for our ‘Artists on Site’ weekend at the Campbell River Museum. Everything from jewelry to beautiful woodwork, gift cards, books, assorted baskets and more!  10am-5pm. 
  • As part of the Museum’s ‘Artists On Site’ weekend, register for this unique Drum Making Class with Mast Drum Maker Jorge Lewis. Guided through the spiritual and creative process of constructing a drum, each participant will create a 14” elk hide drum for keeping. The fee for the workshop is $200 and includes all the needed hide and materials. Register at 250-287-3103. 
  • CR Judo Club’s Annual Christmas Craft Fair is here this weekend with the theme “All Things Handmade” – 10am to 4pm at 450B Merecroft Road.

  •  Gowlland Harbour Resort and SouthEnd Farm & Vineyards is excited to announce the second annual ‘At The Table’ food + drink series with the theme ‘Food & Literature, Writers & Spirits: A Pairing Event’.   • Open Studio: Life Drawing. This is a non-instructional program designed for those who wish to practice their figure drawing skills. Bring along your drawing/painting materials and the gallery will provide the art model! Tuesdays from 6:30-9pm until November 11th. Drop in for $12.50 (GST included).   • “Oh What A Night!” Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons direct from Las Vegas, 7pm at the Tidemark Theatre ($54);250-287-PINK.

  • Rivercity Players present Noises Off, “the funniest farce ever written” by Michael Frayn.   • “Moving Forward in Watercolour” with Caren Heine at the Art Gallery. Wednesday afternoons, 1-4pm from November 5th to 26th.   • The Comedy Assassins are here for one night only! Killer Stand-Up Comedy by Damonde Tschritter and Peter Kelamis at Thunderbird Hall, doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.   • Arena & Pool Sleepover Party at Strathcona Gardens. After everyone has gone home it’s time for some overnight fun – late night skating, swimming, lazer tag, sports, relay races and games! The weary party-goers will wind down with a movie and popcorn in our activity room and wake up to a light breakfast before their parental units pick them up. 8:30pm till 10am ($35, ages 7-11).

  • Hospital Foundation’s annual Dinner & Dance featuring The Timebenders: 15 costume changes, hilarious impersonations and 50 years of hits! Saturday, November 1st
  • A comedic, one-woman “tour de force” entitled Til' Death: the Six Wives of Henry VIII will bring to life all the messy details in this highly acclaimed Monster Theatre production, 7:30pm at the Quadra Community Centre stage. Equal parts comedy, tragedy and reality TV show, “Til’ Death” has captured the attention of audiences across the country. Advance tickets are $15, available at the Music Plant in Campbell River and at Impressions or Works of H’Art on Quadra. 
  • It’s “a guaranteed party!” at the Tidemark Theatre with The Rocky Horror Picture Show up on the big screen. Lots of people will dress up (there is a costume contest before the show!); there will be props and dancing and all around audience participation. 8am-10pm, $35; 250-287-PINK 
  • Interactive comedy dinner show fundraiser for the CR Genealogy Society, 5pm at the Maritime Heritage Centre. Music by Kin-fo and catering by the Royal Coachman. Tickets ($40) available at the Maritime Heritage Centre or the Genealogy Society Library.

  • Painting & Potters Show (Christmas Bazaar) at the Community Centre gym and upstairs lounge. Includes a silent auction of donated items, plus knitting, quilts, crafts, baked goods and much more.   • 8th Annual Pumpkin Smash in the Parking lot of Strathcona Gardens, hosted by the Campbell River Compost Education Centre. Have a smashing good time while helping to keep tons of organic waste out of the landfill. Pumpkins will be turned into rich compost instead of ghoulish waste. 250-287-1625. Runs Saturday and Sunday.
