July 14th – 20th         
 

 
Monday, July 14th

  • July 14th-18th – Van Isle 1200 – over 50 Marathon Cyclists from all over the world will cover 1200km in less than 90 hours entirely on Vancouver Island. The riders will pass through Campbell River three times on their trek heading North West, North and South, between 11:30 Monday and 1am Thursday. More info at www.randonneurs.bc.ca/VanIsle1200.html

Tuesday, July 15th         

  • Lunch in the Square with Doug Folkins; 11:30am-1:15pm 
  • Puppet Theatre at the Museum! Shows at 10:30am and 1:30pm followed by a craft. 
  • Live Jazz at April Point starting at 6:30pm featuring local musicians. 
  • Guided Paddle Boarding on McIvor Lake – come learn on this 2.5 hour tour with all equipment supplied. 6pm, $50 – contactderekcouture58@gmail.com or phone 250-204-1115. 
  • Tyee Club Official Season Opening at 6am; www.tyeeclub.org

Wednesday, July 16th

  • Croquet & Tea at Haig-Brown House – register with the Museum by calling 250-287-3103. 
  • Fun swim from 3pm-4:30pm at Centennial pool.

Thursday, July 17th

  • Campbell River Mirror’s Charity Jazz & Blues Weekend at Spirit Square!! Bring a Toonie for Charity; concerts run 7pm-9pm. Thursday, catch Juno Award-winning bluesman Jim Byrnes. Charity: CR Family Services/home for the Homeless. 
  • Puppet Theatre at the Museum! Shows at 10:30am and 1:30pm followed by a craft. 
  • Road Hockey at the Black Creek community centre, 6-7pm. Sticks provided or bring your own – all ages welcome! Free event, every Thursday in July; 250-337-5190.

Friday, July 18th

  • Active History Afternoon at the Museum offered from 1-4pm (Regular Admission).

Saturday, July 19th

  • Campbell River Mirror’s Charity Jazz & Blues Weekend at Spirit Square!! Bring a Toonie for Charity; concerts run 7pm-9pm. Saturday, catch Maple Blues Award-winner, The David Gogo Band. Charity: CR Special Olympics. 
  • Saratoga Speedway! Gates open at 5:30pm, racing starts at 7pm. More info at SaratogaRacing.ca/2014-race-schedule 
  • Quadra Island Community Market & Bazaar: arts, crafts, flea market finds, jewelry, soaps and more at the Quadra Community Centre, 10am. Yummy lunches, too – everyone welcome! Please call 250-285-3747 for more information. 
  • Estuary Kayaking Tour at 9pm – contact derekcouture58@gmail.com or 250-204-1115. No experience necessary, all equipment provided for this 2.5-3 hour tour.

  • Parks Day Activities at Paradise Meadows! 10am to 3pm with community displays, art, face-painting and scavenger hunt on all day. Also family nature walks at 10am and 1pm; cake and refreshments at noon. www.strathconapark.org 
  • Level 2 Hike to Croteau Lake. 6 hour hike with Marie Maccagno for parks day. Pre-register with coordinator@strathconapark.org

Sunday, July 20th

  • Pier Street Famers Market & Arts Fair: Sundays 10am-2:30pm down between the Maritime Heritage Centre and the Fishing Pier. Fresh breakfast, lunch, coffees, pastries, breads, arts and crafts, live entertainment and more!!  
  • 1pm Nature Walk: Plants of Paradise Meadows. Identify plants and flowers with expert botanist Helen Robinson.
