Friday, March 6th

Saturday, March 7th   

  • The Museum’s 10th Annual Gigantic Used Book Sale & Fundraiser is here! Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 12-4pm. Everything from mystery to history – hundreds of books from old to almost new, famous classics and modern thrillers. 250-287-3103 
  • Linda Ruan, talented, young piano virtuoso, performing at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 7pm. Opening for Linda will be Campbell River’s own 19-year old award-winning Matthew Krell. Tickets available at the Music Plant, $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. 
  • Word. Campbell River Literacy Association is hosting their 6th annual Scrabble fundraiser, 10am-2pm at the Robron Centre library. Players will enjoy three rounds of Scrabble (matched with others of similar ability) and lunch, beverages and snacks are provided for participants.   • Family Pizza & Movie Night at Strathcona Gardens Pool. $15/family or $6/person includes 2 slices of pizza, a drink and an ice-cream cone! 
  • Everyone is welcome to a charming evening at the Rivercity Players Theatre Stage where Ken Blackburn will unveil a previously unseen suite of works for public scrutiny. Ken himself will pull back the curtain on each piece, accompanied by live music and the dimming and raising of lights. 6:30pm at 1080 Hemlock Street. 
  • Culinary Delights await you ‘At The Table’ with Gowlland Harbour and Southend Farm & Vineyard’s Food + Drink Series. 6:30pm at Gowlland Harbour Resort, call 250-285-3572 to reserve ($87/person).

Sunday, March 8th        DAYLIGHT SAVINGS – SPRING FORWARD

  • Everyone is welcome to the reception celebrating the official launch of the Art-in-the-Hospital Initiative. Light refreshments will be served and volunteers will be available to walk with small groups so the public can admire the art; 1-3pm at the hospital cafeteria. www.crarts.ca

Tuesday, March 10th

  • Campbell River Festival of Film: CitizenFour. A real-life thriller that not only shows the dangers of governmental surveillance, but makes you feel them… 7pm, $12 admission (Rated R); 250-287-7465

Wednesday, March 11th

  • The devilishly funny Arrogant Worms are performing at Heriot Bay Inn for two nights of chortles, snickers and guffaws. The shows are fast, furious and family friendly, with quick wit, biting satire and great musicianship. Show seating at 6:30 (finished in time to catch the last ferry back to CR!), call 250-285-3322 to reserve seats (tickets $45). 
  • This month’s Philosophers’ Café has psychologist Frank Young posing the perplexing question, “Are humans basically irrational?” 6:30-7:30pm at the On-Line Gourmet Café (970 Shoppers Row).
