MONDAY January 16

Rossignol National Learn to Ski & Board Week: At Mount Washington until January 20th. Half price beginner ski/snowboard lessons and rentals! For more info see snowschool@mountwashington.ca.

Forks over Knives – Public Screening: This documentary film, Forks Over Knives, looks at the significant claim that most degenerative diseases can be controlled, and often even reversed, by striking overly-processed and animal-based foods from our diets. Jam Session: Every Wednesday evening a group of musicians sit around and share music in and informal, relaxed setting. Everyone is welcome to come and join in or just sit and listen. At Serious Coffee in Willow Point from 6:30pm – 9:00pm.

Open Mic Night: Every Friday evening, Serious Coffee in Willow Point hosts open mic. Come in and sign up to perform or just come and enjoy an evening of amazing local talent. All ages welcome. Come early to get a seat...this is a very popular event. From 7:00 – 10:00pm.

GIANT Indoor Garage Sale: At the Community Centre Gym from 9:00am – Noon. Space is limited so please book early, purchase 10 x 10 for only $10. Bring your stuff, and sell it for a few bucks! Spread the Net: Brock Zanrosso & Special Guests – Tidemark Theatre:  Help Carihi Secondary School win a visit from Rick Mercer and support a wonderful cause! Fundraiser for Spread the Net, a grassroots campaign to motivate, educate and inspire Canadians to help end preventable malaria deaths. Performers for this fundraiser include Brock Zanrosso, Kate Morgan and Gig Morton. Starts at 7:00pm at the Tidemark Theatre, admission is $25 per person. For more info please call 250-287-7465.

Family Pizza & Movie Night: Spend the evening floating and watching a family movie. At Strathcona Gardens pool, all ages welcome from 6-8pm. Bring your inner tubes or other pool toys to float on! Pin Cushion Creatures - Super Saturday Art Class: This isn’t just any pin cushion! These prickly projects will have you squealing as you turn them into mice and other fun creatures. Ski for MS at Mount Washington: An active, fun, pledge-based fundraiser for the MS Society of Canada at Mount Washington Alpine Resort. Pledge minimums correspond with lift ticket rates by age group. $125/Adult, $100/Senior, $75/Youth, $50/Child, $25/Tot. Pledges collected will fund programs and services for people affected by MS and leading edge research to find a cure. Register at mssociety.ca/msfundraising. From 9am – 4pm.
