**REMINDER** Crawling Women ~ CR Art Gallery Exhibition - January 20th to March 2nd:  The Campbell River Art Gallery begins 2012 with an exhibition from an exciting Saltspring Island artist. “Crawling Woman” by artist Stephanie Denz will be on exhibit at the CR Art Gallery until March 2 and features both figurative paintings and wallpaper-style works in the Main Gallery and the Discovery Gallery.  For more information, please contact the Gallery at 250-287-2261 or contact@crartgallery.ca.

**REMINDER** “Working in the Woods Today” Museum Exhibit -  January 27th to April 22nd:

‘Working in the Woods Today’ is a photographic exhibit showcasing the recent history of logging that will be on display at the Museum at Campbell River beginning January 27, 2012. Curated by local photographer and writer Hans Peter Meyer, this exhibition features superb images with informative text about the men and women working in BC’s coastal forest industry in the 21st century. The exhibition is part of a bigger project to produce a large format photo book about BC’s coastal forest industry.

Meyer says that there is an abundance of images from the "glory days of logging," but almost nothing has been published since the 1950s about the industry as a place where real men and women work (in remote locations, and often under dangerous conditions). Meyer grew up in the Comox Valley, and as a young man, worked in the woods and on the booms, and then for several more years in reforestation. In 2002, he started photographing the coastal forest industry, first for Truck Logger Magazine. WEDNESDAY February 1

Weeds & Invasive Plants: Campbell River Garden Club presents: “Weeds and Invasive Plants”. Barb Phipps of the BC Land Conservancy will talk identifying and controlling invasive plants. Doors at the Baptist Church open at 6:30 pm, starts at 7:00 pm. Visitors are welcome - $2 drop-in fee (annual memberships are also available). Jam Session: Every Wednesday evening a group of musicians sit around and share music in and informal, relaxed setting. Everyone is welcome to come and join in or just sit and listen. At Serious Coffee in Willow Point from 6:30pm – 9:00pm.

Open Mic Night: Every Friday evening, Serious Coffee in Willow Point hosts open mic. Come in and sign up to perform or just come and enjoy an evening of amazing local talent. All ages welcome. Come early to get a seat...this is a very popular event. From 7:00 – 10:00pm.

Babysitters on Skates: Parents! This is your chance to enjoy an evening out while your kids spend Friday night with their friends skating, playing games, face painting, doing arts and crafts and making a snack to enjoy while winding down to a movie. The Pied Piper: The Missoula Children's Theatre presents THE PIED PIPER, an original adaptation of the classic children's tale. What do you do when your town is overrun by ravenous rats? Sara, an orphan girl, and the other Townspeople of Hamelin Town turn to the Mayor of Hamelin and his Council when their town is threatened. They then call on the Pied Piper to save them from the troublesome creatures. The Mayor's son and daughter and the Cooks also join in the endeavor. Find out what happens when the town is unable to pay the Piper and the children are led away from the town along with the rats!
