Tuesday, February 25^th     

• Open Studio season at the Art Gallery with a new, live model to paint, sketch or sculpt from every week; runs Tuesdays from 6:30pm-9pm until March 1^1th. The drop-in fee is $12.50 (GST included). Call 250-287-2261 to register. 
• Campbell River Festival of Film continues with one of the year’s defining and most controversial films, “The Hunt” is an intelligent and disturbing dissection of Danish society. 7pm at the Tidemark Theatre. 
• Colleen Evans speaks on the changes that are influencing the economic development of CR and how to prepare for/capitalize on the growth and changes as they come. 5:30-9pm at the Royal Coachman. RSVP and buy tickets online at bpwn.org/meeting-tickets ($40); presented by BPWN.

Wednesday, February 26^th   

• Wear Pink to show that you support bully-free schools, workplaces and communities. www.PinkShirtDay.ca; Ecole Phoenix Middle School is hosting an Anti-Bullying Fun Fair from 5-8pm in their gym with games, face-painting, canteen and a Bouce-a-rama! $1-$2.   
• ‘Dive into the Mysteries of the Sea’ at the Art Gallery with Tara Iverson; kids’ class for ages 7-12. Perfect for the young artist who wants to learn to draw while delving into the mysteries of our marine environment. The class takes place over four sessions running Wednesdays, 3-5pm, until March 19^th. Participants will explore the foundations of basic drawing techniques while focusing on everything from kelp to crabs, sea otters, anemones and much more. The class will incorporate beginner to advanced use of drawing materials, some vocabulary basics and composition. The cost is $65/$75 (member/non-member) and all supplies are included. • Family Story time at the Campbell River Library. Grab your friends and come in for a lively half-hour of books, rhymes and songs about adventure, friendship and loads of wonderful things. Register at the Library or just drop-in! 
• NIC’s “Write Here” Readers Series is pleased to present Sharon Butala, author of sixteen books of fiction and non-fiction, numerous essays and short stories and five produced plays. Butala’s work speaks to the collision of geography and spirituality, blending myth and truth with the Canadian landscapes that she loves. Butala will present her work at the NIC theatre in Campbell River at 7:30pm. The reading is free to attend and open to the community. Friday, February 28^th  

• Extreme Challenge Teen Swim at Strathcona Gardens for grades 6 and up. Includes snacks, challenges and crazy, messy fun – be prepared to be covered in goo! 7-9pm; 250-287-9234 
• Come enjoy a great night of folk/gospel music at a Coffee House Fundraiser at Discovery Community Church. Coffee and goodies available by donation towards a Missions Trip.

Saturday, March 1st

• Haig-Brown writer-in-residence, Andrew Nikiforuk, returns to the Museum for his second lecture: Pipelines, Economic Engines and the Petro State.  From 2pm-4pm, the cost for each talk is $6 - call 250-287-3103 for more information or to reserve your spot.

• Internet Liberty Workshop (free) at the Campbell River Library. As part of the Freedom to Read Week, come learn techniques to read what you want on the internet while protecting your privacy and avoiding advertising. Feel free to bring a computer – all ages welcome. 
• Spend the evening floating in the leisure pool watching a family movie at Strathcona Gardens. Bring your inner tubes or other pool toys to float on – admission includes 2 slices of pizza, a drink and an ice-cream cone. $6/$15 from 6pm-8pm. 
• Still Water Books and Art presents Roger Helfrick at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 7:30pm. Tickets are $15, available at the Music Plant or by calling 250-923-1374. Surplus tickets may be available at the door for $20. “Hinting Spring” will feature Helfrick’s baritone voice accompanied by Celtic lever harp, medieval psaltery and guitar. • Fashion Inferno 12, the Curtain Call – for over a decade CR Fire Fighters and local members of the IAFF have hosted North Vancouver Island’s premier fundraising event in support of the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund. And it’s that time again. Tickets are $60each or $500 for a table of 10, available at Fire Hall #1 (675 – 13^th ave or call 250-286-6266). The Fashion Show, Dinner & Dance will be at the Community Centre - includes a champagne reception and hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and both silent and live auctions. Must be 19+ to attend.

• Sunday afternoon at the Royal Coachman Pub is a great time to relax and catch a little live musical entertainment. This Sunday look forward to Jazz vocalist Dale Graham and her band “Indigo Jazz” to be grooving to familiar and well-loved jazz standards.
