NOVEMBER 24th to 30th


Monday, November 24th  

  • 2014 Artisans’ Market. For 6 weeks each year, the CR Art Gallery is transformed into a beautiful market featuring a wide variety of creative work from coastal and regional artists. You’ll find locally-crafted items of pottery, woodwork and knitwear to jewelry, glass and soap – not to mention spices, candles and decorations! Stop in this holiday season: Monday to Saturday, 10am- 5pm from November 13th to December 24th. 250-287-2261 
  • Rise in the Wake Tour with “The Trews” at the Tidemark Theatre – a mix of electric and acoustic performances. Over the course of their career they have tallied 15 Top 10 radio hits, performed an impressive 1000+ shows and played opposite legendary acts including the Rolling Stones, KISS, Guns N’ Roses and more! Tickets ($42) available at 250-287-PINK (licensed event = 19+).

Tuesday, November 25th     

  • Join NIC’s Global Learning Initiative students in a free screening of Lisa Jackson’s 2013 documentary, How a People Live, which traces the history of the ‘Gwasala-‘Nakwaxda’xw First Nation. 7pm at Timberline Theatre (doors open at 6:30pm).

Friday, November 28th

  • It’s that magical time again in Campbell River, the unofficial kick-off to the Christmas Season: Starlight Shopping & Big Truck Parade! Beginning from the bottom of Rockland Road (at Hwy 19A) at 5pm, the twinkling trucks will head into town, down Pier Street and Shoppers Row, finishing in Spirit Square (~6pm). Entertainment begins in the Square at 5pm (the first 300 children to arrive can pick-up their free glow stick!); live music, a fire-pit, tree light-up, food vendors, face-painters, cookie decorating, Christmas card making, pictures with Santa and Fantastic Shopping! 
  • ‘The Kerplunks’ free family show at the Tidemark Theatre, 6:30pm; Call to reserve seats! 
  • The opening of the Museum’s second annual Festival of Trees where the Changing Gallery will be alight with 20 gorgeous and uniquely themed trees will be displayed for all to enjoy. Feel free to bring a chair and watch the Big Truck Parade from the Museum’s property! A running model train (set up by the North Island Railroaders), an exhibit of nostalgic toys and Ron Francis’ one-of-a-kind collection of hand-crafted wooden toys will complete the festive scene! 250-287-3103 
  • Shoreline Musical Theatre presents “The Fabulous Fifties”, 7:30pm at the newly renovated and intimate Rivercity Stage (1080 Hemlock). Fire up your engine with “Greased Lightning”, swoon over the cool dude in “Totally Sincere”, get your groove on with “Sh Boom” and “Fee Pretty” during this walk down memory lane! Support your local not-for-profit musical theatre organization and have Blast from the Past in this 1950s musical review. Festival seating tickets are available in advance for $20 at Impressions Custom Framing (Shoppers Row), CR Laundromat (Tyee Plaza) and Classy Katz (Willow Point).

Saturday, November 29th 
  • Shoreline Musical Theatre presents “The Fabulous Fifties” at Rivercity Stage, 2pm & 7:30pm. 
  • Island Voices Chamber Choir presents “Songs of Heaven and Earth” at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 7pm, in Campbell River. Tickets available at the Visitor Information Centre ($18/$15). 
  • Oyster River School’s Annual Gift and Craft Extravaganza from 9am-3pm (2250 Terrain Rd); over 40 tables filled with amazing crafts, art and gifts – something for everyone! 250-923-1179 
  • Neon Dance Party for Kids (6-12) at Strathcona Gardens (250-287-9234) from 6-9pm. Awards for best outfit, most neon and overall brightest person. Enjoy hanging out listening to your favourite tunes, skating, dancing, snacking on pizza, singing karaoke and playing games. Be sure to try out our new glow-in-the-dark bowling game! Admission ($10) includes skate rentals, glow item, pizza and snacks. 
  • Even though the Campbell River Christmas Bird Count is not until December 27th, families and bird-watching novices (or experts!) are invited to join a pre-Christmas bird count practice from 10:15am-12:30pm. If interest is high, they may hold a second outing on December 13th! Explore forested trails around the Sportsplex to learn about birds that make their home there; then, head down to the seawalk for an intro to local shore birds and gulls. Practice bird identification and recording, compare bird books and go over what the numbers on binoculars mean. Meet at the Sportsplex, lower parking lot – call Colin or Luisa for more details (250-850-0884 or 250-923-9918, respectively). 
  • After many years of reproducing the stunning scenes of Vancouver Island, Dan Telosky is making room in his art studio for the next big adventure. For the first time ever his original paintings and limited edition prints will be available for sale at Impressions Custom Framing & Art Gallery until December 15th. Meet Dan at the Gallery today between 2pm & 6pm! 250-286-1612 
  • Super Saturday at the Art Gallery! Drop in from 1-3pm and print your own wrapping paper with stamps made from fruits and vegetables dipped in paint! 250-287-2261

Sunday, November 30th
