Discovery Passages Events!



January 6th to 11th     
 
Tuesday, January 6th    
  • An evening with David Lindley: a multi-instrumentalist, David effortlessly combines American Folk, blues and bluegrass traditions with elements from African, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy and Turkish musical sources. 7:30pm at the Tidemark Theatre; 250-287-PINK 
  • It’s Epiphany – the 12 days of Christmas are officially over! If you missed the chipping event and are wondering what to do with your tree, the Yard Waste Drop-Off Centre will accept trees cut in half free of charge! Located on Willis Road (West of Shell), they are open year round from Friday-Tuesday, 8:30am-4:30pm for residents who participate in the city’s curbside collection program.
Thursday, January 8th         
  • Night Skiing at Mount Washington. Available from 3:30-9pm, every Thursday-Sunday until April 18th.
Friday, January 9th  
  • World renowned Scottish fiddler, Aladair Fraser, and explosive American cellist, Natalie Haas, will be in concert at the Big Yellow Merville Hall! Doors open at 7pm, tickets are $18/$10 on sale at the Music Plant or $20/$12 at the door. Call 339-4249 for details. 
  • Friday Night at the Movies – enjoy skating while watching a family movie! $4 includes skates, 2 slices of pizza and a juice box. 5:15pm-8pm (movie starts at 6pm). 250-287-9234
Saturday, January 10th

  •  “A Night at the Savoy” at the Quadra Community Centre – Ballroom swing-era fun with Dock Side Drive from Victoria; 250-285-3710 ($20 at the door). 
  • The Adam Clarkson ‘Superman Fundraiser’ is holding an Auction & Dance Night at the Curling Arena. Doors open at 6pm and the auction goes until 9pm. There is a jersey-theme, so wear your favorite and automatically be entered to win! Tickets on sale at Fitness Etc. and Spinners Sports.   
  • Sports Day Fun at Strathcona Gardens from 1-3pm. Compete (or not!) for fun prizes. The battery powered Sea Doos and Dolphins will be out… call 250-287-9234 for more information.

 Sunday, January 11th  

  • For those who are still at the ideas stage of a writing project, you will be interested in this “Introduction to Narrative Planning” writer’s workshop led by Jeanette Taylor and Annette Yourk in anticipation of their new bi-monthly workshop beginning January 24th.
