January 12th to 18th     
 

Tuesday, January 13th  

  • International Family Recreation Evening at Robron Centre. Fun activities, games and learning opportunities for the whole family – a great way to make new friends! 6:30-8pm; call 250-830-0171 for more information.

Wednesday, January 14th

  • Snowed In Comedy Tour at the Tidemark Theatre, 8pm. Four international comedians come together to create one amazing show! 250-287-PINK

Thursday, January 15th         

  • Night Skiing at Mt Washington. Available from 3:30-9pm, every Thursday-Sunday until April 18th.

Friday, January 16th  

  • Cosmic Rock n’ Glow Swim at Strathcona Gardens for ages 11-17. An evening of pool games, challenges and fun. $5 admission includes glow item, snacks and drinks. 8-9:30pm; 287-9234

Saturday, January 17th

  • Super Saturday: Wolf Moon. January’s full moon is called the Wolf Moon because it appeared when hungry wolves howled outside of villages. Bring out the majesty and mystery of the full moon with a winter night scene using white chalk on black paper. Free drop-in art for all ages from 1-3pm at the Art Gallery. 250-287-2261 
  • Doris Ritchie “Collection & Sale” grand opening at the Art Gallery, 1-3pm with light refreshments. A pillar in the local cultural community, her estate donated more than 240 works, including watercolours, drawings and portraits of the regional landscape, flora and people. The sale and salon-style exhibition will continue until February 6th. 250-287-2261 
  • Quadra Winter Market from 10am-2pm at the Quadra Community Centre – wonderful handmade items for gifts, just a walk from the Ferry! 
  • Three powerhouses of folk music are combining their talents and bringing an evening of melodic musicality and magic to the Heriot Bay Inn. Shari Ulrich, Barney Bentall and Tom Taylor are ready to ‘wow’ you. Show only seating ($29+) is at 7pm or you can add a delightful two course dinner at Herons ($49+) and be seated at 6pm.   • Discovery old-time gospel singing at the Discovery Community Church on 10th Avenue. Sing-a-long or just listen to the gospel specials – everyone welcome!

*It’s time for the Frontrunners Island Race Series of 2015! The Merville 15k is the 7th of 8 races in the series and will take place April 12th. Register online at www.vira.bc.ca
