Monday, April 14th

  • Cinema Politica/Timberline Earth Club movie series continues with “A Fierce Green Fire”; this film captures the energy, expansiveness and extremes of the environmental movement. 7:15pm at NIC, by donation. Contact alexnicholl46@yahoo.ca for more information.

Tuesday, April 15th

  • Beginning Acrylic Techniques in Landscape Painting with Jill Paris at the Campbell River Art Gallery; Tuesdays at 6:30pm from April 8th-29th. 250-287-2261 (www.crartgallery.ca) 
  • CR Hospice Society presents John Wort Hannam at the Campbell River Baptist Church. John is a folk/roots artist with 5 released albums, a Juno nomination and a Canadian folk music award. Doors open at 7:30pm and the concert starts at 8pm. Call 286-1121 for details/tickets ($20). 
  • The CR Yacht Club is inviting anyone that might be interested in club level sailboat racing to attend an organizational meeting to take place at 7pm at the Fish & Wildlife Clubhouse (2641 Campbell River Road). Contact Wade at 250-923-5326 for more info. 
  • As part of BC’s Prevention of Violence against Women Week, everyone is invited to come down to Spirit Square to view The Clothesline Project from 10am to 4pm. 

Wednesday, April 16th

  • Earth Week Film Festival at the Tidemark Theatre. Feature Film ‘Truck Farm’ has received numerous awards. An evening about energy conservation, urban agriculture, food security, waste reduction, composting, water quality and so much more. Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7pm; admission is by donation.

Thursday, April 17th

  • Learn more about NIC’s Metal Jewelry Design certificate from the program graduates: attend an open house, 1-3pm, at their studios (Campbell River campus) and meet students, instructors, view their work, talk about equipment, skills and techniques.   • Johnny Vallis: A Tribute to Buddy Holly at the Tidemark Theatre (287-PINK). Johnny perfectly portrays both the look and the sound as he rolls out Buddy’s greatest hits. Friday, April 18th    Good Friday

  • Go Kart Rental and Monster Truck Ride weekends now starting at Saratoga Speedway (weather permitting!). 12pm-4pm; 250-337-8106.
Saturday, April 19th  
  • Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Family Day down at Spirit Square. The hunt starts at 11am sharp over at Robert Ostler Park (first 300 children receive a basket of goodies). The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance. 11:15am entertainment begins (Captain Thunderpants, photos with EB, face painting, crafts at the CR Art Gallery, Shoo Shoo the clown, zumba, tai chi, electric train and animal activity farm!) and there will be food and drink available. 250-287-8642.   
  • Quadra Island Community Market & Bazaar: arts, crafts, flea market finds, jewelry, soaps and more at the Quadra Community Centre, 10am. Yummy lunches, too – everyone welcome! Please call 250-285-3747 for more information. 
  • Old Time Gospel Singing/Sing-a-long (Easter theme) at the Discovery Community Church, 7pm. 
  • It’s Sybil Andrews Day! Visit the cottage (2131 S. Island Hwy) in Willow Point between 2pm&4pm for tea, coffee and cake. “Images of Home” will be on display and Ken Blackburn will give a short talk on Sybil’s art. 
  • Eric Samuels: Acts of Astonishment at the Tidemark Theatre (287-PINK). Using a deft combination of psychology, suggestion and stagecraft, Samuels in The Mentalist. Sunday, April 20th    Easter Sunday!
  • He is Risen: an Easter Sunday Service at Spirit Square hosted by the Campbell River Vineyard Church. Come to a pancake & bacon breakfast at 8:30am, stay for music and a message at 10am. Everyone is welcome!
