Monday, April 21st    Easter Monday!

  • Easter Extravaganza at Balance Equestrian Centre (just off of Willis on Walworth Road) from 1-3pm; tickets will be on sale beginning at 1pm sharp (250-203-6042). Easter Treat Hunt ($5) at 1:15pm, Pony Rides ($5) from 1:30-3pm and all other games/activities ($5) between 1 and 3pm such as find your own egg in the chicken coop and paint it at the décor station, petting farm, pin the tail on the horse, face painting, balloon animals and more! Buy a pass for a 3 events and save $2. Bake sale and hot drinks will also be available. Please bring a basket and wear boots (no dogs please). www.balanceequestrian.ca

Tuesday, April 22nd

  • Beginning Acrylic Techniques in Landscape Painting with Jill Paris at the Campbell River Art Gallery; Tuesdays at 6:30pm from April 8th-29th. 250-287-2261 (www.crartgallery.ca) 
  • Multi-Mannia Pro-D day from 9am-12pm at the Sportsplex. Ages 6-12; $18, call 250-286-1161 to register.

Wednesday, April 23rd

  • The Paramount Music Hall presents “Hear no Evil” Comedy Tour with Byron Bertram, Kyle Jones and Jared Borland. Advance tickets available from the tidemark theatre ($10 - 250-287-PINK) and at the door ($15). 
  • Come learn about mason bees with Gordon Cyr. Mason bees are kid friendly, entertaining to watch and easy to raise; join this evening workshop, 7-8:30pm at the CSWM Compost Education Centre (corner of Pinecrest and South Dogwood in St. Peter’s Church Hall). Thursday, April 24th

  • Catch ‘Little Women, The Musical’ at Timberline Secondary School; show runs April 24th to 26th and May 1st to 3rd. Starts at 6:30pm – call 250-923-9500 ext. 2588 for details.  
  • CruisePlus presents Phil Reimer, former radio and TV celebrity, to take you on his ‘Ports & Bows Island Tour’ as he visits Vancouver Island and showcases the best tips and strategies you need to know about sea and river cruising. Everyone is invited to attend this ‘meet and greet’ event at the Anchor Inn. Admission is $10 (CruisePlus clients are welcome at no charge).   • Don’t miss the Campbell River Art Gallery’s 32nd Annual Members Show, April 24th to June 6th, in both galleries.

Friday, April 25th   

  • Neon Dance Party for Kids (6-12) at Strathcona Gardens (250-287-9234). Awards for best outfit, most neon and overall brightest person. Enjoy hanging out listening to your favourite tunes, dancing, munching, singing karaoke and playing games (roller-bladers with helmets welcome). Includes pizza and snacks; 6-9pm, $10.  
  • Willow Point Film Fest presents “I Am”; $1 popcorn, tea and coffee – movie by donation followed by open discussion. Doors at 6:30pm. For more information call 250-895-0349.

Saturday, April 26th 

  • Quadra Island Community Market & Bazaar: arts, crafts, flea market finds, jewelry, soaps and more at the Quadra Community Centre, 10am. Yummy lunches, too – everyone welcome! Please call 250-285-3747 for more information. 
  • Cedar Pull and weaving with Chief Wayne Bell hosted by the Museum at CR. Meet at 9am to travel to forest site and participate in two hour traditional Cedar Pull (a hatchet is recommended – wear clothing and footwear suitable for wet forest conditions) followed by a workshop at the Museum (2-4pm) where Wayne will demonstrate basic approaches to cedar weaving (roses, rings, bracelets, rope, coasters and simple baskets).   • Berwick by the Sea presents “Living Well Expo” at the Community Centre from 11am-4pm. Over 40 Exhibitors! Booths, demos, door prizes, guest speaker, workshops and entertainment – Free admission. 
  • Cameryn’s Cause Masquerade Gala at the Sportsplex with a gourmet dinner, silent auction, live auction, cash bar, live music and dancing! Tickets ($70) are available from 207-991 Alder Street (located above Island Fever Travel).  www.camerynscause.com 
  • All-day workshop with CR Genealogy Society at the Maritime Heritage Centre. Think of it as spring cleaning (but more fun) of your genealogy files, records and research etc. The cost is $30 and seating is limited; for more info contact Janice at 250-203-0585. 
  • CR Garden Club plant sale at the Baptist Church (260 South Dogwood) from 9am-1pm.

Sunday, April 27th    

  • CR Singers spring concert “Springtime on the River” will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican church at 2pm. Joined by local musical phenomenon, Carter Johnson, as a special guest. There will be something for everyone at the concert, from easy jazz to My Fair Lady. Tickets available from choir members or at the door.
